As this review has shown, the volume as a whole contains a very diverse collection of approaches to The Pretenders. The aim of the book must have been twofold: partly to throw light on recent scholarship on The Pretenders but also to present a glimpse of various approaches within contemporary Ibsen scholarship in Scandinavia.
