Folk Tales of Scottish Saints

Scotland has a rich and magical heritage of saints, forgotten for centuries in the wake of the Protestant Reformation. Now, with holy wells and shrines once again drawing people to their stories, our saints are being rediscovered in all their strange, mystical and folkloric glory. From St Columba meeting a talking squirrel, to St Magnus of Orkney helping someone to win a dice game, this book delves into the strange and wonderful world of medieval saints, and how they formed part of Scotland’s cultural beliefs. These men and women crossed the threshold between this world and the other with ease, and their stories are as much part of our folklore landscape as selkies, ghosts and fairy folk.
