Hafiz in Love - Selected Lyrical Verses

A new English translation of a selection of verses of love and wine by revered classical Persian poet Hafiz. Hafiz is one the most cherished classical Persian poets, his poetry adored in Iran and admired internationally by figures such as Goethe, whose West-Eastern Divan was inspired by the 14th-century master. This book presents new English translations of a selection of Hafiz’s lyrical poems by Iran expert Homa Katouzian, focusing on Hafiz’s core themes of love and wine as well as sheiks, Sufis and mysticism.
