Handbook of Ukrainian Literature

A comprehensive overview of Ukrainian literature within the local and global context. The Handbook of Ukrainian Literature is the most comprehensive English-language survey of Ukrainian literary history ever published. Spanning a millennium of literary production — from folklore and Kyivan Rus chronicles of the 11th century to wartime poetry written under Russian bombardment today — this volume brings together the world's leading scholars of Ukrainian literature to offer a chronological, analytically rigorous, and globally contextualized overview of one of Europe's richest and most underrepresented literary traditions. Published at a moment of intense international interest in Ukraine, this handbook does not merely document the past: it makes the case that Ukrainian literature is, and has always been, a living, resistant, globally significant force.
