Spiritual Autobiography in the Eastern Orthodox Space

This book explores the particularities of spiritual autobiography in the Eastern Orthodox space, including case studies focused on John of Kronstadt, Silouan the Athonite, and Nikolay Berdyev. It draws on a range of sources and provides a sophisticated and nuanced idea of autobiography. The author considers why there are not as many spiritual autobiographies in the Eastern Orthodox tradition in comparison to Catholic and Protestant traditions and shows that despite fewer works, there are a thematic diversity and a rich message among the authors. The book emphasizes the practical relevance of spiritual autobiography for pastoral and daily life. It will be of particular interest to scholars of Orthodox Christianity and Christian spirituality.
