The Story

When a white teacher is killed in a black neighbourhood, four journalists race to get the headline – at any cost. But as shocking new evidence pulls them into the dark heart of the case, they are each forced to confront their version of the truth, and what they're prepared to risk in order to tell it. Gripping and adrenaline-fuelled, Tracey Scott Wilson's newsroom thriller explores the slippery nature of truth, and the recklessness of ambition. The Story was first performed at The Public Theater, New York City, in 2003. It received its British premiere at the National Theatre, London, in 2026, directed by Clint Dyer and starring BAFTA Award-winner Letitia Wright.
