Revisiting the Fundamentals of EU Law

EU law has expanded dramatically in scope and complexity, particularly in the post-Lisbon era marked by successive crises and challenges-sovereign debt, migration, climate change, democratic backsliding, the rule of law, geopolitical conflict, and technological transformation. Revisiting the Fundamentals of EU Law engages with the scholarship of Bruno de Witte to revisit core questions of EU law: balancing market integration with linguistic and cultural diversity; the Court of Justice's shaping of legislative fundamental rights; constitutional trade-offs between capacity and control; evolving debates on competence and identity; and the EU's complex relationship with international law in global climate governance.
