The Drosophila Model in Cancer

In recent years, Drosophila, with its powerful genetic tools and in-depth knowledge of its biology, has contributed greatly in understanding the basics of cancer biology. This book is intended to collect writings from leading scientists who use the Drosophila model to address fundamental questions related to different areas of cancer research. The topics will range from identification of cancer related genes and pathways, to how tumor cells interact with its microenvironment; and from the intrinsic defense mechanisms metazoans have evolved, to why cancer is deadly. What we have learned from this small creature will continue to help in our fight against cancer.
