This book was created as a guide to follow the recent International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) roadmap for training in urogynecology published in 2024. The chapters/topics discussed are those suggested by IUGA Fellowship development committee and can serve as an introduction to the basics of urogynecology that should be pursued by all trainees desiring a focused treatise on the field of urogynecology.Clinical assessment is presented holistically, combining symptom assessment, severity and bother evaluation, lifestyle and precipitating factors, and appropriate use of diagnostic tools. Equal attention is given to conservative, office-based therapies and surgical options, allowing trainees to understand the full continuum of care and develop sound judgment in selecting appropriate interventions. The role of contemporary surgical materials, including biologic and synthetic options, is critically discussed within the context of safety, efficacy, and long-term outcomes.
