A Flaming Soul - A heart-touching account of Swami Vivekananda's last years

In A Flaming Soul, writer and scholar Chanchal Kumar Ghosh turns to the most intimate chapter of Swami Vivekananda’s extraordinary life—the final year and a half between 1900 and 1902. Set largely on the quiet banks of the Ganges at Belur Math, the narrative reveals a very different Vivekananda from the one who awakened a nation. Here, he is portrayed as ailing yet serene, withdrawn yet deeply compassionate, and all the while preparing inwardly for his final departure. Blending meticulous historical research with the sensitivity of a novelist’s imagination, Ghosh brings readers close to the monk’s daily life, capturing his conversations with brother disciples, reflections on the scriptures, and quiet acts of spiritual preparation.
