The 58th international Sachsensymposium - 1-5 September 2007

The theme for the 58th International Sachsensymposium conference was Raw materials and societies of Northern Europe in the 1st millennium AD. Twelve of the papers given at the conference are presented in this book. Most of the articles focus on raw materials such as iron, charcoal and wood, but also gold and tempering material in pottery are represented. The articles cover a wide range of subjects from production, technology and trade to social organization, identity and warfare. With references.
