Appropriation and Religion in the Greek and Roman Worlds

Appropriation, 'making something one's own', helps us to think about social practices. This volume applies it to the religious practices of Antiquity, considering the agency of social actors against the strictures of society, whose ideas and practices they appropriated, and how appropriation changed ideas and practices in often subtle ways.
