This book is a collection of articles on the history of LBT women in Hungary in the 20th and 21st century, in a social, cultural and psychological context. The chapters present individual authors and images in the mirror of psychiatry in the pre-war years and state-socialist times, lesbian’s self-narratives, as well as contemporary psychologist’s views on gender and sexuality in the context of recent political-legal decisions regarding LGBT contents. The book is presented as an orientation about historical and contemporary issues concerning the lives of LBT women in Hungary. The studies are based on primary research and the literature on LGBT/women’s studies, women’s history and social history. Representing Lesbian Lives in Hungary will be beneficial to scholars and students researching the history of sexuality, women’s history, LGBT studies, as well as the history and politics of Central Eastern Europe.
