Adolescence: Transformations Across Social, Emotional, Physical and Cognitive Domains

This book contains five chapters that detail transformations across social, emotional, physical, and cognitive domains in adolescents. Chapter 1 examines the relationship between psychological well-being, cognitive style, emotional intelligence, body image, and perceived social support among adolescents. Chapter 2 discusses the impact of Adverse childhood experiences (ACES) during adolescence that far-reaches into adulthood. Chapter 3 explores the developmental transition from childhood to adolescence with a focus on self-esteem trajectories and its influence on aggression and depression, as well as its influence on positive mental health outcomes. Chapter 4 investigates the relationship between stress, sleep, behavioral problems, and emotional eating. Finally, chapter 5 aims to (1) summarize the prevalence of endocrine abnormalities in adolescents with ß-TM, (2) compare regional and temporal patterns, and (3) evaluate the role of iron chelation and endocrine surveillance in improving outcomes.
