The Politics of Passion - Women's Sexual Culture in the Afro-Surinamese Diaspora

Gloria Wekker analyzes the phenomenon of mati work, an old practice among Afro-Surinamese working-class women in which marriage is rejected in favor of male and female sexual partners.
