U.S. Coast Guard: Cultural Competence, Drug Interdiction, and Arctic Challenges

The Coast Guard is uniquely positioned as the only military service capable of conducting maritime law enforcement operations. Under its authorities, the Coast Guard is actively engaged in missions related to drug interdiction, migrant interdiction, and the protection of natural resources from harmful activities such as IUU fishing. It conducts these missions within the territorial waters and exclusive economic zone of the United States, on the high seas, and in foreign territorial waters when operating under agreements with allies and partner nations. This book addresses issues related to the Coast Guard's missions.
