This work aims to analyze the motivation of drug addicts in deciding to undertake a detoxification process. More precisely, the impact that the role of the nurse has on these people is analyzed. The analysis focuses more on understanding the role of the nursing figure in fostering awareness by drug addicts in detoxing and then later being able to reinforce the motivation for change.
Purpose and objective:
The purpose of this research is to be able to find if nurses favor the awareness, of the users, towards a change and therefore a detoxification. Evaluate later if the motivation is maintained and favored by this professional figure.
Methodology:
The development of the theoretical framework was carried out with the help of two models. The Trans-theoretical Model of DiClemente and Prochaska and the Self-Determination Theory. Thanks to these theories it was possible to analyze how a person decides to change their lifestyle and what motivates them.
