Julius Caesar

A fresh, contemporary translation of one of Shakespeare-s most dramatic and popular plays. Julius Caesar, Shakespeare-s famous Roman tragedy, chronicles the chaos leading up to the fateful murder of Caesar and the ensuing political fallout upon his death. Shishir Kurup-s translation updates Shakespeare-s language to allow more of the playwright-s ideas to come through; it opens the wonders and blazing relevance of the play-s rhetorical brilliance to the twenty-first century. -This translation of Julius Caesar was written as part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival-s Play On! project, which commissioned new translations of thirty-nine Shakespeare plays. These translations present the work of -The Bard- in language accessible to modern audiences while never losing the beauty of Shakespeare-s verse. Enlisting the talents of a diverse group of contemporary playwrights, screenwriters, and dramaturges from diverse backgrounds, this project reenvisions Shakespeare for the twenty-first century.
