Laurel Burch was a self-taught artist and “?ower child” who sold handmade jewellery on the streets of San Francisco in the 1960s. Later on, she continued to rely on her intuition and passion, speaking from the heart with an unmistakable style that was the manifestation of her love of life and strong imaginative nature. From her fertile imagination, she created brilliantly coloured, vibrant and moving themes with paint and paper, exquisitely embellished with gold and silver.Abundant and varied, Laurel Burch’s celestial theme evolved over the years in a brilliant colour palette emblazoned with shimmering details, including rainbow-hued fish and sprays of colourful flowers cavorting with her suns, moons and stars. According to the artist herself, this exuberant motif was inspired by the belief that these ethereal elements are shared by every human being and are an ever-present part of the continuum of life.It is our pleasure to share Laurel’s legacy with the world, demonstrating in this example how her unique vision continues to evolve and inspire.
