BERKSHIRE, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE AND OXFORDSHIRE

This volume sets out from Broughton Castle through the gently rolling parkland and farmland of North Oxfordshire and concludes with a full-day outing from Georgian Woodstock through and beyond the fine landscaped parkland of Blenheim to North Leigh Roman villa. Further magnificent parkland with views of grand houses can be walked at Waddesdon, Claydon, Stowe and Stonor. Countryside heritage and marvellous old buildings are a focal point at Great Coxwell, and its old tithe barn; Brill and its windmill and duck decoy; and the medieval market town of Deddington. Sections of National Trails pop up regularly throughout the book with the Thames Path at Shiplake and Hurley, the Ridgeway from near Wantage and West Ilsley; as well as chances to sample other long-distance trails such as the Chiltern Way from Pishill, and the Lambourn Valley Way, both on the Downs above the racehorse centre of Lambourn and near Donnington Castle.
