There are around 40 disused railway lines in Norway located in scenic areas near coastlines, fjords and mountains. Many of them are open to the public, either as rail trails or for rail biking. This book presents around 50 hiking and cycling routes along abandoned railway lines filled with cultural history, hidden treasures and various attractions.

Hiking and Biking the Rail Trails of Norway by Erlend Garåsen is an English translation of Skinnelangs (English: Along the Tracks) published by Kagge Forlag in 2021. The first edition received excellent reviews from travel and outdoor magazines and was selected as the best guidebook of 2021 by the newspaper Nettavisen.

Erlend Garåsen organises guided walks along disused railway lines in Norway. He is 48 years old, has a master-s degree in political science and works as a senior engineer at the University of Oslo.
