Who was the best of all-time?"‘Liverpool FC's Greatest’ is a celebration of the many brilliant players that have represented England’s most successful club – and a fascinating attempt to rank their place in history. It taps into those eternal debates in pubs, on match days, online or between friends; the conversations sparked when a new superstar emerges or another trophy is lifted. Who was the best?In an attempt to answer that question, in early 2026 Liverpool FC conducted a global vote of fans to choose their favourite Reds of all time, based on an individual’s ability, impact, legacy and success during their LFC playing career. Almost 1.4 million selections by supporters were combined with nominations by former players, journalists, a club panel and 134 years of statistics – producing a comprehensive top 100. This new series counts down those 100 greats to reveal the No.1, chronicling their contributions and achievements in detail and looking back on LFC’s compelling history in a fresh way.
