Unwilling to trail around lots of smaller establishments with the heaving seasonal crowds, Holmes insists they leave early and go to a single shop: Whiteley’s, the capital’s first ‘department’ store, in which everything and anything can be found!What Holmes and Watson do not expect to find, however, is a body suspended in the branches of the store’s Christmas tree. To everyone else, it looks as though the dead man has fallen from a gantry and broken his neck. Only Holmes hears a slow, steady drip and notices the blood pooling beneath the tree.
