Along with Anita Hegg, his partner not only on the job but at home, Valmann is drawn into a breakneck series of events in which the question is not only whether they can track down the guilty parties, but also – and equally important – whether they can track them down in time to keep them from killing one another...

Reviews for The Thieves:
«This book marks Faldbakkens 40th anniversary as a writer. And the celebrated author’s contribution to the jubilee is no less than a challenging and exciting renewal of the crime genre [...] the most encompassing and exuberant of Faldbakken’s detective stories so far.»
Hamar Arbeiderblad, Hamar

«This year’s story about the stubborn and slightly introvert Hamar policeman Jonfinn Valmann is the best of the series [...] Employing several different narrators, three villains and one omniscient author’s voice Faldbakken spurs his plot forward at a high pace.»
