Bus to Queen's Lane

When Pam, an only child in her teens, falls pregnant in 1960’s Oxford, her father is incensed. Despite his protests and their unfortunate position, she decides to keep the baby and marry the father. As their working-class life in Cowley moves on, Pam’s wealthy father Harry begins to scheme, using his power to undermine Pam’s husband and interfere with their daughter Linda’s upbringing. But when Harry has Linda moved to a public school, Pam is less than happy with her daughter’s progress and lifestyle, resenting her privileges, and begins to take it out on her. Based on a true story that takes us back to Oxford in the 1960’s, Bus to Queen’s Lane is a rich history of the families that lived, worked and played at that time, trying to progress in an era when Oxford car factories were booming. Factory life, schooling and lifestyle was on the up, and as the world progressed in these ways, some children had to fend for themselves and try to understand new parental rules.
