After the death of his mother, fifteen-year-old Zachary Taylor lives with his father in a cabin on Sitting Down Lake in the Canadian wilderness. When the arrival of his neighbour''s mysterious niece Eva stirs up ghosts from the past and present, the people of the lake grow closer as they realise that death is never final: something always remains.
