Merit has reached a period of stagnation in her twelve-year marriage and though she loves her husband and the two children they''ve created, when she starts up her career at Jager + Brandt again she meets someone who makes her feel real again. The beautiful and brilliant Jane, an architect and everything Merit feels a woman can be, is as enraptured with Merit and their friendship immediately blossoms.
